Islampur’s Swarnali Gets Gold in International Karate Championship

Webdesk, TNI Islampur, 29th June, 2017: The local girl Swarnali Routh won gold in the International Karate Competition held at Nepal recently. She won the gold at the Kata Category of the Karate Competition. On the other hand, she also won the silver in the fighting category of the completion. In the senior fighting category, Sashikanta Sil of Islmapur’s Milanpally won the silver. Their coach was Mr. Pradip Sikdar from Islampur. According to him, the competition took place at Dashrath Stadium of Katmandu Nepal. The other participating countries were Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Srilanka. Thought winning gold, silver or bronze is not new in Islampur. Earlier also there are many medals won by Islampur’s Karate Players. Recently, Avijit Pal of Islampur has become the assistant coach of Indian Karate Team. Avijit is now having his focus on the next Olympic games.
